About FTA
Feeding Tube Awareness is an organization dedicated to supporting parents of tube fed children and raising positive awareness of tube feeding as a life saving medical intervention for medically complex children.
The logo “Super Tubie” is a symbol of embracement. Tube feeding is often misunderstood and parents can face negativity as a consequence. Tens of thousands of infants and children are able to live, grow and thrive because of tube feeding. It is important that these children and parents do not feel alone. There are myriad medical conditions that inhibit a child's ability to eat and drink enough on their own. It can take months to years to fully diagnose a child. Tube feeding enables these children to get the nutrition and hydration they need.
The organization’s website (www.feedingtubeawareness.org) provides pragmatic information for parents on day-to-day life with a tube fed child. The facebook group offers real time support and knowledge sharing among thousands of parents and supporters globally. The group’s annual Feeding Tube Awareness Week, held the second week of February, has gained support of news media, online media, corporations and organizations focused on tube feeding.
